Treat your favorite canine and help those dogs and cats without homes. All the proceeds from dog cakes, brownies, and cookies go to the Humane Society of the Palouse.

Feral Cat Solutions

A trap/neuter/return program serving Moscow, Latah County, and surrounding areas. If you are caring for a feral colony or have feral barn cats, please check this program out!

Spay & Neuter Assistance

If you have a pet animal that needs fixed but just can't quite afford the full cost of surgery, we can help.

Feeding assistance

If you are disabled, unemployed, on public assistance, or otherwise just short on funds and may need to give up your beloved family pet, please stop by the shelter. We keep extra donated cat and dog food on hand to help feed the needy pets in our community! Pet food donations gratefully accepted to enable this program.

University of Idaho employees can now support the Humane Society of the Palouse through payroll deduction. Contact the Payroll Office at 885-3865 for more information.

What's Happening

First Annual "It's Running Like Cats & Dogs" 5K fun run/walk will be held on Saturday, April 12 at the old Tidyman's parking lot. Registration is only $15 and includes a T-shirt! Check-in begins at 8:00 am, and the race begins at 9:00. Forms are available at the shelter.

We now offer microchipping of your new cat or kitten for only $10 at the time of adoption. Regular price for microchipping you pet dog or cat is $25, and includes national registration.

We use Kuranda dog beds in our kennels. Click the picture above for more information on these great products or to donate a bed to the shelter!

Dog obedience classes will be starting at the end of April. Call the shelter for more details!

Featured Pets

Annie

Annie is a 2-3 year old lab mix female. She loves to play with other polite dogs, but is easily intimidated by large or boisterous playmates. We currently have her in with puppies because she became fearful of her previous playgroup. She doesn’t do that great with cats. She has a lot of energy and would do best in an active home with a nice big yard for her to romp around in. Annie does not have accidents in her kennel, but in her previous home she had messes inside. She has been started on crate training and is doing well with it. If you like to play fetch or to go for runs or walks Annie would love to join you!

Aadi

This middle-aged girl would love to rule your home with velvet paw. She likes to be the boss, and has previously indicated she'd rather be the only pet. However, as time has gone on, she's learned to deal with the other animals. Every morning, she comes out of her cage to stretch her legs and get a little exercise. Mostly she ignores the resident dog and cats, but has been known to slap them around some. In a home, she may be able to tolerate older, calm housemates. With people, she's quite friendly and very expressive with her eyes, even though she doesn't talk much. She'd rather be pet in place than picked up and cuddled. Aadi has been at the shelter for a very long time, and would love someone to take her home.

We have pets other than cats and dogs too! Lately we've had gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, degus, two pythons, and a bird come through. Even a chicken! So if you're looking for a pocket pet or small exotic, please call us!
